South Sinai Governorate
Sharm El Sheikh is located in the South Sinai Governorate which runs from Taba on the Gulf of Aqaba in the north to Ras Mosallah on the Suez Gulf to the west and Ras Mohammed to the south. The regional capital city is Al Tor. The South Sinai region has a wonderful all year round climate; its stunning beaches are lapped by the Red Sea. Ras Mohammed is renowned for its exquisitely beautiful coral reefs and marine life. It is now a nature reserve and hence very popular with scuba divers. It is positioned 57 km from Sharm el Sheikh at the peak of the Sinai Peninsula. Sharm el-Sheikh itself is a very popular resort with holiday makers from around the globe, and attracts divers and snorkelers because of its abundance of brightly coloured marine life. The Red Sea is one of the top dive sites in the world. Sharm is also a haven for sun worshippers looking to relax.
